Cisco Establishes New Vision for Managing Mobile Business Communications
Corporations are having a hard time being anytime, anywhere. That mantra of mobile computing sure sounds good on paper, but a rapidly evolving array of nascent devices, standards, and technologies is making things tough for the people that need to manage business communications operations.
The answer, according to Cisco Systems, is something that’s always there: the network. Until now, information technology (IT) managers have had to cobble together different technologies and services that often poorly integrate with a business’ established communications infrastructure, adding another layer of complexity to an already tough job.
Quote of the Day
The more you seek security, the less of it you have. But the more you seek opportunity, the more likely it is that you will achieve the security that you desire.
Narbik’s Soup-to-Nuts Workbook Switching Lab 2

Lab2 for switching was pretty basic and that’s exactly what I was looking for. I was able to go over the switching concepts and solidify my basics. I don’t think any of the tasks were anything special but they were to the point and I was able to complete most of them without looking at the DocCd. One reason was that I looked up most of the stuff during Lab 1. Following is a list of things I think we covered in Lab 2: Read more
Parking Meter Company Creates New Business Model with Wi-Fi
Photo Violation Technologies Corp. makes life easier for anyone who has ever had to feed a parking meter, or any city that has had to maintain one. The Canadian company’s PhotoViolationMeter is a “smart” parking meter that allows drivers to pay with cash, credit card, debit card, or with a cell phone. The meters even include a grace period for drivers who overpark by a few minutes. But if a driver fails to pay the parking fee, the meter takes a photograph of the car’s license plate. Then, the meter wirelessly sends the photo to the municipal agency that maintains violations. Company officials have proven that the high-tech meters bring in five times the revenue of traditional parking meters, both because the technology makes it easier for drivers to pay, and because it is easier to catch those drivers who do not pay.
Site Back up after 24 hour down time!
Well my hosting company came under some fire and that ended up knocking the site off for a day. I completed Narbik’s Switching Lab2 and spent an hour on DocCd yesterday. It was a good experience but it kind of sucks that I was not able to blog about it yesterday. Today was an off day from R&S because I was working on Wireless solution comparing Sprint & ATT’s aircards for Cisco routers. I will post about my Lab2 in the morning. I am glad the site is FINALLY back up and running.

Narbik’s Soup-to-Nuts Workbook Switching Lab 1

Today I finished Switching Lab 1 from the Soup-to-Nuts Workbook. This was a nice warm up lab that took about 2 hours because I looked up everything on docCD. My plan was simple, read the task, attempt it on my own, read through narbik’s explaination and then locate the information on docCD. I am using this approach so I can be familiar with the DocCD by the time I am done with all the labs. DocCD has a lot of good examples along with the explainations and that really helps in understanding the topic.
