I am a little behind in this announcement but there was a CCIE Conference call this morning that many of us attended. Cisco announced that they are removing the Open Ended Questions from the CCIE Routing & Switching and CCIE Voice tracks.
This is a fantastic news for folks who have been studying more for OEQs and less for the lab. To be honest that’s the nature of the beast because 3 questions out of 4 were deciding your fate in an 8-hour exam.
I know a few GOOD engineers who failed OEQs while aced the lab but still were not able to get the CCIE #.
I am hoping Cisco will consider these cases where folks did really well on configuration but failed due to OEQs. Because we know $1400 is NOT cheap and the stress that comes with a failure is not worth it in the end.
