Recently I showed you how to fix the CSCtq18270 error on Cisco Communications Manager 7.1.3 and or 8.5.1.
Well as our lives go, I ran into this weird issue with a Cisco Communications Manager 8.6.1 where the backups on the 3 server deployment would complete with the following error on one of the Subscribers.
WARNING: Unable to contact server. Master or Local Agent could be down, Backup Completed
So the good thing about this error message is that your Cisco Communications Manager Publisher is getting backed up and the error is on one of the Subscribers.
Since I ran into a bug on another deployment, I thought it would be a great idea to check the bug list and make sure I am not running into another stupid bug. After checking, I was happy to find out that I have not hit any bug. Question was why is the backup failing for one of the subscribers.
So I started looking at the services and logged into the Publisher. Both Cisco DRF Local and Master were running. Looked at the Subscriber that was failing and sure enough the DRF Local service was NOT RUNNING!
So once I found that I went ahead and Started the service on Subscriber. Keep in mind once you start this you will have to restart Cisco DRF Master and Local on Publisher and also restart Cisco DRF Local on the other subscribers.
Once they are all started, let’s go ahead and test using the manual backup method and now you should see a successful backup with no errors.
Life is good!
