Finished working through Security
I have not been able to update my progress as quickly as I would have liked. Work has been busy along with personal commitments
So I think I have covered security for right now and have a few things to review.
Internetwork Expert Mock Lab 5 - Misery Continues
Last saturday I went ahead and attempted IE Mock Lab 5 without taking into consideration that it might beat me down so bad that I won’t be able to get up. I know a few other bloggers who attempted these higher difficulty labs and didn’t get pass 60.
I need to schedule 4 IE Mock Labs…
OK so I purchased enough credits to register four IE Mock labs. I know there are tons of folks out there who have taken the IE Mock Labs so can you comment on this?
How to re-enable an Errdisable port?

So you have configured port-security on one of your ports and we all know that by default if the violation occurs, the port will be put in shutdown-errdisable mode. One way to get the port back up is to do a manual shut-noshut on it. In today’s world, this might become an administrative nightmare.

These last 2 weeks were insane. I had to finish Multicast, QoS, Security labs from Narbik’s WBs and then fly out Pasadena for the bootcamp. I think I have a list of to-do’s esp when it comes to things like IPv6, QoS, Security and Multicast. You gotta love the way Narbik teaches, no powerpoint no computer what so ever. It’s him, 3 different colored whiteboard pens and a white board!

Today I finished Switching Lab 1 from the Soup-to-Nuts Workbook. This was a nice warm up lab that took about 2 hours because I looked up everything on docCD. My plan was simple, read the task, attempt it on my own, read through narbik’s explaination and then locate the information on docCD. I am using this approach so I can be familiar with the DocCD by the time I am done with all the labs. DocCD has a lot of good examples along with the explainations and that really helps in understanding the topic.

SNMP is an application-layer protocol that provides a message format for communication between managers and agents. The SNMP system consists of an SNMP manager, an SNMP agent, and a MIB. The SNMP manager can be part of a network management system (NMS) such as CiscoWorks. The agent and MIB reside on the switch. To configure SNMP on the switch, you define the relationship between the manager and the agent.
